One helpful skill in the naturalist’s toolkit is the ability to read the track and sign of the creatures that came before us. Gaining a sense of the actions and patterns that our fellow inhabitants follow can make us more effective at what we are trying to accomplish in the field. It’s also just plain fun detective work! With a short “classroom” session to cover some basics this class will primarily be a hike to go see (and identify) common tracks left by our winter inhabitants. Learning track and sign is not a one and done skill! Stay tuned for regular tracking clubs to keep those wits sharp.
