Get a new perspective on gardening by finding out what nature has to offer. You may find that you have something to offer nature, too. Going native is a win-win; good for nature and good for you. Come and find out why.
This two-part workshop starts with a one-hour walk to observe native species where they live. We will focus on species that we will see in a semi-cultivated garden in part two. The highlight of the nature walk and garden tour will be plants that thrive on south facing slopes. Other habitats will also be explored.
This garden has evolved for nearly 40 years, often with little interference from resident humans. The focus has always been perennials, including quite a few natives, but with a goodly number of ornamentals, several of which continue to thrive alongside many other native species from nearby who have decided to make this yard their home. Whether you live in the country, suburb or city, your gardening efforts can help save the world, one square foot at a time!
